    RTE Footie Pundits

It annoyed me last night that none of the studio lads knew diddly about the Faroe lads and laughed at the fact.

Surely as pundits it's part of their remit to do research and enlighten the general public who don't get paid to watch and talk about football as they do.

O'Herlihy is worst culprit and chief muppet in this regard.

Toshack at least can offer insightful knowledge into the Spanish league and often the Italian league.

Even if he does call Real Madrid Ree-alll.

In fairness though, Bill O'Herlihy isn't there to be an expert, he's there to ask questions of Giles, Dunphy et al.

Ah the RTE panel is great, always good for a laugh, and the addition of Ray Houghton is pure genius, he's hilarious!
Excuse me, I'm all thumbs today!

Worse is Jim Beglin. That was him twittering on alongside George 'Danger Here' Hamilton last night, wasn't it? Christ, he always sounds so clueless.

The two worst people in football commentating/punditry:

    Bryan Hamilton.
The dick on Bravo who thinks the Brazilians speak Brazilian.
Seriously, you are guaranteed an Oscar if you play a mental.

i love Jim Beglin but in a purely Alan Partridge/Pat Kenny sort of way

myself and my mates always quote him for that comment during Irelands world cup game versus Saudi Arabia where they were showing the underground warm up area during the match instead of the match......George Hamilton pointed it out.........long silence..........then Beglin just cracked "RIDICULOUS, i mean this is just Ridiculous........................absolutely ridiculous, this is absolutely just ridiculous"

it was pure partridge and its been used for every bad Irish shot/tackle/corner since

    Ridiculous!

you know what...I used to hate Giles. But since listening to him a bit more on Newstalk, I have to say he's actually fairly clued in and makes some simple, but very true observations.

and his hair is fantastic...the makers of brillo pads should sponsor him.

Actually thats a good point, the sport in general on Newstalk is deadly.
